The annual competition supports IELTS test-takers with up to IDR 90,000,000 towards university tuition fees in English-speaking universities around the world, helping young ambitious people turn their academic dreams into reality.

This year’s competition was open to IELTS test-takers living in China, Japan, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal and Sri Lanka. A total of three winners have been selected following a competitive application process in each country. This year’s winners in Indonesia are:  

• Verrel Surjatin – 1st prize winner

• Kania Hairani – 2nd prize winner

• Vivien Machmud – 3rd prize winner

Summer Xia, Country Director Indonesia and South East Asia Lead at the British Council, said: “Congratulations to Verrel Surjatin, Kania Hairani, and Vivien Machmud, this year’s winners of the British Council IELTS Prize in Indonesia. “As well as enabling Indonesian students to pursue academic excellence in world-class education institutions such as universities in the UK, we run IELTS here to provide many Indonesians with the freedom to travel to new countries, immerse themselves in new cultures, and become part of a global IELTS community.
