Remember, while you are refuelling your energy during sahur and the breaking of fast, you don’t have to overeat. Instead, eat moderate portion for sahur as overeating will lead to you feeling drowsy and unenergized.

Working during Ramadan is rewarding but not without its challenges. It is during this the time that we tend to complain or feel unenergized. 

However, worry no more! Here are seven tips for you to Stay Motivated at during Ramadan:

1. Be determined 

Will yourself to work with excitement and energy. While we may face more challenges during Ramadan due to religious obligations such as practicing self-restraint from hunger and negative emotions and thoughts, make sure that you will it to work with motivation. When you are determined, the next tips will be easy to follow. 

2. Eat sufficient sahur meal

Remember, while you are refuelling your energy during sahur and the breaking of fast, you don’t have to overeat. Instead, eat moderate portion for sahur as overeating will lead to you feeling drowsy and unenergized. Choose balanced menus – carbohydrate, protein, and fiber in your intake. Foods that contain fiber help keep you full longer. Also, eat more veggies and fruits. 

3. Adjust sleeping time

There are two sleep schedules for you to fix - first, night schedule. If you have a habit of sleeping late, you better change it. Try to sleep early as you will also need to wake up earlier than in months other than Ramadan. The second schedule is after sahur and morning prayer. It may be better if you don’t continue sleeping because it might cause you feeling lethargic afterwards.  It’s better to continue with exercise or other energizing activities. If you have to be in the office early in the morning (7 AM to 9 AM), you may leave immediately. 

An important part of Ramadan is the close observance of the worship rituals. If consistent worship is a struggle prior to the blessed month, Ramadan is the moment for you to improve this. Last but not least, worship with all sincerity. 

4. Include other activities during work to stay excited and energized 

Use lunch break to do some activities that make you refreshed and relaxed such as exercise, walk around the office, or occassionaly chat with colleagues. If your office comes with billiard table, tv, and video game, take advantage of them. You can also use your lunch break to take a 20-30 minute short nap. These activities will help you feel refreshed and ready to work again.

5. Avoid Caffeine

On a regular day, caffeine may help us feel alert especially when we feel sleepy. However, during fasting month, it’s not advisable to consume caffeine during sahur or when having iftar since it may hurt your stomach and make you ill.

6. Take care of your health

Your body is yours – get to know it. Avoid unhealthy foods, non-productive activities and the likes. If you are healthy, you can overcome all challenges and perform optimally at work. 

7. Observe Worship Rituals
