In Sheffield, UK, Ian worked as a mainstream primary school teacher and then as a local government officer overseeing school governor training, family literacy and family support, before moving on to manage community regeneration projects including a supplementary school consortium. Moving overseas, Ian taught English in Nepal before joining the British Council in 2011 to work as a teacher mentor, then project manager, for the English Language Teacher Development Project in Sarawak, Malaysia. Ian then moved to direct and manage large-scale teacher training projects in Myanmar and Thailand. Ian is now Director East Asia for the British Council’s English Programmes work.
